Universidade Federal do Ceara – UFC, established in 1955, is the biggest University of the State of Ceara, in Brazil. It has almost 2,000 professors, 21,000 undergraduate students and 7,000 graduate students.

The Department of Architecture and Urbanism, the first institution in the State to provide professional training on the subject at the undergraduate level, is completing 50 years of existence in 2015. It has just launched the Master course on “Architecture, Urbanism and Design”.

Among several areas of interest, its faculty research about the challenges of the informal city, which is a growing phenomenon in the local and national scale.
