The FAU-PUCRS has 20 years of history working within the area of Social Housing.
In this field, the Faculty has been productive in terms of research and collaboration with municipalities and the federal government, especially in relation to working with slum communities. The “Research Centre for Social Housing and Sustainability” is a sector of the university dedicated to the study and production of scientific material in the field of social housing. Currently there is activity in three research groups coordinated by PhD professors and appropriate expertise focusing on research, urban policies, land regularisation, and slum upgrading.
FAU-PUCRS is also part of the “Working Group on Housing” in the International Federation for Housing and Planning (IFHP), and hosts the Latin American IFHP Office, acting as an “antenna” for improving projects and initiatives on social housing in Latin America, as well as to promote seminars, conferences and activities related to the theme.
