Report of the Executive Director on the progress in the implementation of the New Urban Agenda and the 2030 Sustainable development

The General Assembly (GA) adopted a resolution A/RES/73/239 in late 2018, which changed the governance structure of UN-Habitat. This resolution dissolved the UN-Habitat Governing Council as a subsidiary organ of the GA and proposed the creation of the UN-Habitat Assembly, which will have its first session in May 2019. As part of the preparations for this session, a report of the Executive Director is underway on the progress made in the implementation of the NUA and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The report presents the work of UN-Habitat as a focal point and custodian of SDG11, as well as the efforts of the UN system, international community, and Member States in the implementation, follow up and review of such global agendas. Through the UNI network, partner universities were requested to share their contributions to inform the drafting of the report.
