Description
The School of Architecture of Reunion, a branch of the Higher National School of Architecture of Montpellier (ENSAM), after 30 years of existence, remains the only French-speaking public and European higher School of Architecture in existence in French overseas departments and in the southern hemisphere.

Financed by the French state, the ENSAM and three local government bodies – the Regional Council, the Departmental Council and the town council of the city of Le Port – it is also supported by a network of local companies.

The School prepares students for the Diploma in Architectural Studies (DEFA, Bachelor's degree) and the State Diploma in Architecture (DEA, Master's degree) in the field of architecture, towns and territories in tropical environments and with the perspective of preparing a Doctorate.

The School focuses on the living environment of the majority of the world's population and can, in this respect, be a channel for new forms of expression from the Southern hemisphere, as well as becoming a space for research and experimentation for alternatives to the dominant models in the Northern hemisphere. The teaching emphasises the notion of territory, organising partnerships and exchanges with local actors, and focuses its studies on tropical architecture.

The teaching team, composed of university lecturers, practitioners and professionals, promotes the development of types of design emphasising the human being, once more central to his environment.
